Ground Zero Classics Podcast

Charles Fort, an early 20th century writer and researcher, is famous for his work on the odd and the unusual that didn’t fit into a neat understanding according to the science of the time. People who are inspired by him are called, Forteans. I consider myself a Fortean rather than a conspiracy theorist because I like to analyze and report on weird stories, both political and non-political.
Fort spent years scouring the great Public Library in London looking for articles relating to certain phenomenon such as falls of frogs and fish, stones being thrown at houses from nowhere, animals from one continent being seen on another where they should not exist, as well as ball lightning, spontaneous human combustion and other oddities.
He felt that science was not being true to its own tenets since almost all such incidences were washed over with banal and mundane explanations that were simply pulled out of the air by scientists refusing to sully their hands with further research.
Forteans are mostly creative and imaginative and we are also highly speculative. We go through life like children do on Christmas day. Everything we see from the darkest doom to the most funny and inspirational as a joyful experience that sums up all things living on planet Earth.
Charles Fort is well known for his quote about where he saw humans in the big picture.
Fort once stated that “The Earth is a farm, we are someone else’s property” Simply put, Fort was saying that humans are in a contained environment like an alien ant farm.

For the past couple of days, I have been sitting on a story that has gone viral on the internet about an alien signal detected in Russia and was later passed on to SETI (The Search for Extra-terrestrial Intelligence.) It was reported last Sunday of mysterious signal spikes emitting from a 6.3-billion-year-old star in the constellation Hercules, 95 light years away from Earth.

Last month, there were bizarre reports that residents of a Peruvian village have been living in fear because they claim to be constantly terrorized by an alien breed they call “Los Falcaras” which loosely translated means, “The Face Peelers.” These creatures have been described as looking like the Green Goblin from the Spiderman comics and can shapeshift like the aliens in “The Predator” films. A while back, we briefly discussed the cultural television phenomenon known as “Stranger Things.” This cult hit debuted on Netflix and so many people have been drawn to it. When I was in Salt Lake City for the Youngevity conference, I was alone in my room binge watching this television series and noticed that it had all of the elements of a good conspiracy theory yarn. Big government doing clandestine experiments, small town boys stumbling on a strange creature in the woods, and a rumored portal that is supposed lead to a darker parallel universe called, “the upside down” by the children in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana.

On June 24th 1947, the word, flying saucer was coined by journalists who were reporting an odd story about Kenneth Arnold who while flying his plane over Washington spotted nine boomerang shaped craft that seemed to skip across the air as a “saucer would skip across water.” These unknown craft were mirror bright and traveled at fast speeds, faster than any jet that would eventually show up in the skies many years later.
The “flying saucers” had arrived only because the media said so.
The flying saucer was most definitely a media creation; a marketing label developed to sell newspapers. It would become a word that not only was used to encourage the believers and the witnesses but it also was used in a derisive manner.

I have always been a big fan of the Jason Bourne movies because it is a Hollywood version and fore structuring of what can be called MK Ultra fiction. Jason Bourne is a covert intelligence operative who survives an intense mind control “reprogramming” process to become a government assassin. August 15 marks the day when Japan remembers the end of WWII.
