There have been numerous conspiracy theories spun about the Roswell Incident in 1947. Alleged eyewitnesses to the crash debris had come forward and raised questions as to what exactly happened out in the middle of the hot New Mexico desert. A darker side to the story began most notably with the publication of Leonard Stringfield’s, Situation Red: The UFO Siege, a book that surmised the country was in the midst of a wave of increasingly violent UFO encounters, incidents that had led to physical injuries and abductions. Furthermore, it detailed how US government cover-up was not only alive and well, but far bigger, deeper, and more nefarious than anything the enthusiasts and researchers had ever imagined. Lately, there’s been an increase in UFO sightings including some anomalous objects that were shot down by the military over Alaska, Canada, Lake Huron, and off the South Carolina coast. Simultaneously, strange crafts were observed over China, Poland, and Uruguay. Pilots that engaged with the targets said the objects interfered with their sensors. On June 24th 1947, the word, flying saucer was coined by journalists who were reporting an odd story about Kenneth Arnold who while flying his plane over Washington spotted nine boomerang shaped craft that seemed to skip across the air as a “saucer would skip across water.” These unknown craft were mirror bright and traveled at fast speeds, faster than any jet that would eventually show up in the skies many years later.
The “flying saucers” had arrived only because the media said so.
The flying saucer was most definitely a media creation; a marketing label developed to sell newspapers. It would become a word that not only was used to encourage the believers and the witnesses but it also was used in a derisive manner.

Right after the Roswell UFO crash 75 years ago, there was a photo of Major Jesse Marcel and General Roger Ramey in the Roswell Record with Ramey holding a memo or message that is folded in his hand. You can barely make out some sentences in the message but later using advanced computer imagery there are those who have deciphered some of the words that were on the memo that may give clues as to what was happening on that day. If what they found was accurate, and others could corroborate what they had seen, then it was a breakthrough in the Roswell case.
